Now, Free Entry for Kids and Teens at Curiosum!

NEWS From 18 January, Curiosum offers free entry for children and young people up to 19. The initiative aims to inspire more families and youths to discover the centre, where science and technology turn into thrilling adventures. "We want all children and young people to explore science and technology without cost being a barrier. Free entry for young people will help us reach more families and youths," says Madelen Bodin, Director of Curiosum.

Curiosum, Umeå University’s science centre, is a place where families can experiment together, program robots, explore the LEGO workshop, and enjoy breathtaking film experiences in the immersive dome theatre, Wisdome Umeå. The centre’s unique appeal lies in its fun, engaging, and educational activities for all family members, regardless of age.

Science Opens Doors

Through playful activities and inspiring guidance, Curiosum seeks to spark curiosity and interest in science and technology among young people.

–       We aim not only to encourage new ways of thinking and learning but also to show how valuable knowledge is in creating a better future – both for ourselves and future generations. Our guides, who are students at Umeå University, are adept at engaging children and young people. They are brilliant at stirring the children's curiosity and inspiring them to explore more,” adds Madelen Bodin.

Practical information

Young people wishing to visit Curiosum without adult supervision are welcome from the age of 13. The centre encourages family visits for the best experience and has therefore also set a limit of four children under 13 per adult.

Curiosum is open on weekends and during school holidays and hosts themed evenings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. During these evenings, visitors can embark on exciting space adventures or try their hand at creating with various techniques and materials, such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and T-shirt printing.
